Engine control (Ignition & Exhaust port and more) is fully managed by the engine's ECU (Electronic Control Unit), giving you perfect results every time.
All parts are manufactured in-house at Rotax's state-of-the-art factory in Austria
The engines have a very long running time between service - up to 50h running time which is significantly longer than all comparable competitors.
Crankcase: the crankcase is made of injection moulded aluminium
With over 15bars of pressure molten aluminium is pressed into a mould, The high pressure guarantees a strong and solid casting with perfect results.
After casting, the crankcase is machined by computer-controlled milling machines with an extremely high precision, after which the entire crankcase is powder coated with a durable surface paint.
Piston and cylinder: The cylinders are also cast in aluminium before CNC machining to obtain the most uniform result possible.
The cylinder barrel is Nicasil treated - Nicasil is one of the hardest coatings available and has almost unlimited durability.
Another big plus with Nicasil is that you only need 2% oil mixture, good for the environment and good for your wallet.
The piston is forged from aluminium which after machining is coated with a Teflon surface, this increases longevity and gives you the best possible performance and reduced friction.
Exhaust port: on the cylinder is a variable exhaust port, simply explained the cylinder changes according to the engine speed.
At low revs the exhaust port is closed and gives you a torquey engine, then as the revs increase the exhaust port is opened by the digital engine management system and gives you the best possible peak power.
You get the best of both worlds and avoid the rather uncontrollable top end of an engine without an exhaust port.
Cooling: all Rotax engines have a closed water cooling system that operates without external water pumps, the high flow rate and the large aluminium radiator guarantee the right working temperature ( 50-60c ) even during hard driving.
Ignition: the ignition is digital and fully electronically controlled via the engine's computer box, with the help of a sensor at the crankshaft you are guaranteed to get the correct ignition every time. You also get a variable ignition curve that adapts to the engine's condition, all for the best possible performance.
Clutch: The hardened steel clutch transmits engine power to the drive chain and then to the rear axle.
The clutch normally lasts for several years and is service-free, your engine drive is mounted in the clutch drum and by changing this you can easily rewire the engine in under 1 minute.
Carburettor & Fuel: A powerful vaacum driven fuel pump feeds fuel to a 34mm Dellorto carburettor designed specifically for this Rotax engine.
The carburetor can be adjusted by changing the nozzle and adjusting the throttle needle, information on which fuel you should use is available via the Rotax App which, via your position, gives you the optimum fuel based on temperature and air pressure. Mounted on the carburettor is the engine's air intake, via a foam filter the air is led into the carburettor - guaranteed clean and with the correct flow.
Thanks to the clever design of the air can, running the engine in heavy rain is no problem at all.
