Rotax Max Challenge 2026 decided – meet the champions heading to the Grand Finals

After a full season on Sweden’s karting circuits, the Rotax Max Challenge 2026 reached its conclusion at Gelleråsen Arena on 26–27 September. The class champions have now been crowned, and we know which drivers have qualified through the Swedish series for the Rotax MAX Challenge Grand Finals in Portimão this November.

The final weekend at Gelleråsen was a fitting end to a season of close battles, strong grids and the pursuit of a place at the Grand Finals. In Junior and DD2, the champions signed off in emphatic style: Maximus Unt won all three finals in Rotax Max Junior, and Vigor Hjorvard did the same in Rotax Max DD2. In Senior, the weekend’s three final victories were shared between Lukas Fredén, Sebastian Hedin and Caspian Hagman – but across the season, Hedin collected the most points.

Final standings in the Rotax Max Challenge Sweden 2026

Rotax Max Junior

1. Maximus Unt – 709 points

2. Elias Johansson Åkerlund – 660 points

3. Ralph-Hugo Hager Nieminen – 644 points

Maximus Unt claimed the Junior title by a margin of 49 points, rounding off the season with three consecutive final victories at Gelleråsen.

Rotax Max Senior

1. Sebastian Hedin – 786 points

2. William Blomberg – 720 points

3. Eddie Nilsson – 706 points

Senior had the season’s largest field in the published standings, with 91 drivers. Sebastian Hedin won the series by 66 points over William Blomberg. Three different final winners at the closing round showed just how fierce the competition remained as the championship was decided.

Rotax Max DD2

1. Vigor Hjorvard – 706 points

2. Hannes Morin – 679 points

3. Sebastian Svensson – 634 points

Vigor Hjorvard won the DD2 series ahead of Hannes Morin and also swept all three finals at Gelleråsen. In DD2, the Swedish series has two places at the Grand Finals, meaning both Hjorvard and Morin will race in Portimão.

Rotax Max DD2 Masters

1. Jonatan Morin – 709 points

2. Daniel Wälimaa – 679 points

3. Björn Edström – 640 points

Jonatan Morin secured the DD2 Masters title and won two of the final weekend’s three finals. Björn Edström won the third.

Rotax E10 Mini

1. Karl Larsson – 359 points

2. Alexander Nafstad – 340 points

3. Enzo Hiort af Ornäs – 336 points

Karl Larsson won Rotax E10 Mini by a margin of 19 points. The E10 Mini winner also earns a place at this year’s Grand Finals, where the electric class is part of the programme.

Six drivers from the Swedish series heading to Portimão

The winners of Rotax Max Junior, Rotax Max Senior, Rotax Max DD2 Masters and Rotax E10 Mini earn places at the Grand Finals. Rotax Max DD2 has two places, awarded to the drivers finishing first and second in the series. This means the following six drivers have qualified through this year’s Swedish series:

• Hannes Morin – Rotax Max DD2

The Grand Finals await on 7–14 November

The Rotax MAX Challenge Grand Finals will take place at Kartódromo Internacional do Algarve in Portimão, Portugal, on 7–14 November 2026. According to the organiser, 432 drivers from more than 60 nations are expected at the 26th edition. For the drivers, it is a chance to compete against fellow qualifiers from around the world – and for those of us back home in Sweden, there will be six drivers from this year’s series to follow especially closely.
