Losing the engine logbook / service book for your Rotax Max engine is more common than you might think. It can be stressful – especially before a race – but the good news is that it can almost always be resolved.
Step 1: Contact the service center that last serviced the engine
The logbook is the engine’s official identity. If you know which Rotax Max Service Center last:
- serviced the engine
- sealed it
- stamped the logbook
that’s where you should start.
They usually have access to:
- service history
- engine serial number
- seal information
Don’t know where the engine was serviced?
No problem. Contact Radne Motor AB and we’ll help you track down the engine history.
If the engine is not sealed
If your engine does not have a valid seal, it must be submitted to:
- an authorized Rotax Max Service Center, or
- Radne Motor AB
The engine will be inspected, sealed according to Rotax regulations and documented correctly.
Important: An unsealed engine is normally not allowed to compete.
Why are Rotax engines sealed?
- to ensure fair and equal competition
- to prevent illegal modifications
- to simplify technical inspections
- to guarantee compliance with regulations
