IceGrip Stud PR 100 pcs
Product description
Screw studs are exactly what the name suggests – a stud that is screwed into whatever you want to stud for winter.
Used mainly on various types of tyres, but screw studs also work well on rubber tracks, tyres, snowmobile mats and anything else similar where you need better grip on snow and ice.
This particular screw stud has been developed by us to give a suitable level of grip for all types of ice racing with 4-wheeled vehicles.
As this stud is pointed and extremely hard, it is not recommended for vehicles that will be driven on a garage floor/asphalt, as this can damage the surface – in that case you should instead use our flat HM15 stud, which is a conventional screw stud.
But if you're driving a go-kart, ATV or car on the ice and want a comfortable grip that is manageable but still works well for sliding sideways, then these PR screw studs are absolutely perfect!
The screw stud has a sharp tip made of tungsten (an extremely hard material) that protrudes 3.5mm, and together with the protrusion of the hex head, you get around 6mm that digs into the ice.
We recommend between 40-70 screw studs per tyre, depending on how much power your vehicle has and how much grip you're looking for. The best approach is to experiment, and if you're unsure you can always call us for advice.
The screw stud is easily fitted using a screwdriver and the included tool.
It's important to apply good downward pressure with the tool while screwing, and to stop the screwdriver quickly and precisely once the stud is properly screwed in, otherwise you risk stripping the rubber threads that the screw creates.
You don't need to pre-drill before fitting, and it's only for very high-power vehicles (60hp+) that you should also glue the screw stud in place with Loctite 480.
