Product description

The friction clutch is a link between the engine and the rear axle and it is the power transmission itself. It is designed as a protection for the engine so that it can slip if there is a stop.

The kit is complete with friction rings, screws and nuts

How to mount the friction clutch on the rear axle of the Rotax Max DD2

It is important that the screws are tightened with the right torque to work properly.

The friction clutch has 4 plastic bushings which lie between the friction clutch and the rear axle.

How to mount it:

Thread on the clamp (# 1), the washer (# 2) and the friction clutch to the center of the rear axle. Then check that there are no marks or degrees that stick up where the friction clutch should be located so that the surface is clean, smooth and fine.

Then slide the washer, clamp ring and friction clutch over the engine's hollow shaft, which sticks it with a large hexagonal nut shape.

Then tighten the 6 Allen screws on the friction clutch with a torque wrench to 8 Nm. If you do not have access to a torque wrench, you can use a one-handed grip on a t-wrench and tension "just right" if you are an experienced mechanic.

If you tighten the friction clutch too loosely, it will feel like the motor is slipping on the clutch out of the corners, and on the other hand if you tighten it too hard, there is a risk that it will break. Carefully check that the nut on the back is in the correct position in its hexagon socket in the friction clutch.
