Kart Rainwear

Rain can easily ruin a race weekend - Get the right rain clothes and rain shoes and it will be a little easier and a little more pleasant to drive a go-kart in the rain!

The most important garment for rain driving is a waterproof rain suit for karting - this will keep you dry even in heavy rain. The rain over suit is worn on top of your go-kart cover. If you use rib protection when driving a go-kart, it is important that you wear this closest to your body under your ordinary fabric racing suit, otherwise there is a risk of damaging the rain suit with the hard rib protection and your go-kart seat.

We sell rain over suits from both Sparco and Alpinestars. They are very similar in price and functions; both are made of a flexible plastic material that gives you good mobility in the gokart. The Alpinestars rain suit has an extra reinforcement on the right arm which prevents damage from engine/spark plugs if you happen to scrub against them with your rain over suit.

In addition to suits, rain boots and rain gloves are usually used when driving a gokart in the rain.

Rain boots for karting are made of Neoprene and resemble shoes used for diving/swimming. Sparco rain boots are very thin and flexible. It's normal for your feet to get a little wet/damp even if you wear rain boots - the primary function is to keep you from freezing, rather than to keep you from getting wet.

Rain gloves are manufactured in two variants. There are rain gloves that are made of Neoprene, these are a bit thicker than the other models but are often the warmest option at the same time.

If you want your hands to be as warm as possible - choose neoprene gloves (Sparco CRW)

If you want rain gloves as thin as possible so that you have good contact with the go-kart steering wheel, choose the Sparco Record WP.

Regardless of the model, you should go one size larger than your usual glove size as rain gloves can be a bit tighter and more difficult to put on.
